Contoured vs. Round Breast Implants
There are several breast implant options that include the type, shape, texture, and size. You have two options for the shape of breast implants. These options include:
- Contoured Breast Implants
- Round Breast Implants

Contoured Breast Implants
Contoured breast implants are in the shape of a teardrop. They are sometimes referred to as teardrop breast implants. Contoured breast implants give the breasts a natural, sloping appearance. These breast implants do not give volume or fullness to the upper area of the breast. The majority of the volume of the implant is toward the bottom area where it fills out into a teardrop. Women choose this implant for the natural sloping appearance. Women who wish to have volume and fullness to their entire breast will want to choose round breast implants.
Round Breast Implants
Many breast surgeons choose the round breast implant for breast surgery. The round breast implant has many benefits that the contoured breast implant does not offer. The round breast implant adds fullness and volume to the entire breast and gives the breasts a forward projection that the contoured implant does not give. Small-breasted women choose the round implant because it gives volume to the upper portion of the breast.
